Hillside House No. 4

Oʻahu

Nothing stands mauka of this house but open, sparse hillside, and its forms take their cue from that spare, abstract landscape. Compact white volumes step along the slope, each with a deep soffit shading timber-framed glass and pale wood, each lānai turned toward the mountains or the sea.
